Fix: the forward now fires on every map

Up to 1.1.0 client_steam_owner fired only when Steam approved a player, which happens once per connection, not again on a map change. After a map change plugins saw only the players who joined on that map; everyone who stayed from the previous map got nothing.

Changes

  • Fires once per player on every map, like client_authorized. For players who stay through a map change, the module repeats what Steam reported when they joined.
  • No lost approvals between maps. An approval that arrived while plugins were unloaded during a map change was dropped; it is now reported on the new map.
  • Reconnects still fire. A player who leaves and rejoins within the same map gets the forward for the new connection.

Upgrading

  1. Replace addons/amxmodx/modules/steam_owner_amxx_i386.so.
  2. Restart the server (modules load only at startup). amxx modules should show version 1.1.1.
No plugin changes needed: the forward's parameters are the same as in 1.1.0. steam_get_owner() is unchanged.

Breaking change

client_steam_owner now passes the player's index as the first parameter:

forward client_steam_owner(id, const authid[], const owner_authid[], const owner_steamid64[]);

Plugins no longer need to look the player up by comparing authid strings — act on id directly (kick, ban, message).

Update your plugins: add id to the function header and recompile them with the new steam_owner.inc. A plugin compiled for 1.0.x still loads, but reads the index where it expects the authid. Compiling an old plugin against the new include fails with function heading differs from prototype, so it can't slip through by accident.

Changes

  • Player index in the forward. It fires once the player is both approved by Steam and authorized by AMXX (client_authorized), whichever comes last, so id is always the right player. The player may still be connecting (is_user_connecting); kicking works either way.
  • Owner cache keeps one entry per player. A player who reconnects often no longer pushes everyone else out of the cache.
  • steam_get_owner() no longer returns an outdated owner after a player switches copies or Steam doesn't report the owner on a later connection.
  • Bigger owner cache: 256 players instead of 64.
  • Stricter STEAM_0:X:Y parsing: an out-of-range Y is rejected instead of being turned into a wrong SteamID.

Upgrading

  1. Replace addons/amxmodx/modules/steam_owner_amxx_i386.so.
  2. Replace steam_owner.inc and recompile every plugin that uses client_steam_owner, with id added as its first parameter.
  3. Restart the server (modules load only at startup).
steam_get_owner() is unchanged.
